Description:

Photograph. Coast Guardsman cleaning the galley aboard the USCGC Mayflower (WPE-183). Official caption on reverse: "3176. From: Public Relations Division / U.S. Coast Guard / Washington, D.C. Mother Can't Do It Now. Aboard the MAYFLOWER, Coast Guardsman William P. McNally thinks of the long hours that mothers spend in the kitchen as he cleans up the galley after mess. The 'kitchen' is strictly a man's domain aboard ship. Coast Guardsman's McNally's home is at 265 Broadway, Bayonne, N.J. The MAYFLOWER, former presidential yacht with a record of participation in two previous wars, is now a Coast Guard manned patrol vessel." Atlantic Ocean. No date
