Father Preston “Peppie” Joseph Marquette was born to Clifton and Susie Marquette on 19 October 1913 in Napoleonville, Louisiana. He grew up in Theriot, Louisiana and he served as a Catholic priest at Immaculate Conception Church in Marrero, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. Father Marquette served as a chaplain in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the 5th Air Force. In the 1950s Chaplain Marquette was attached to the 45th Infantry in Korea. He died in Louisiana in June 1985. The collection contains photographs from Father Marquette's service during WWII and Korea.
