554.Photograph 'CinCPac 8015 February 26, 1945 Death on Iwo These three Japs [Japanese] were killed by Marine artillery fire during the early part of the attack on Iwo Jima. They were blown out of their defensive position, the shallow fire trench at the right which faced an open field.' 26 February 1945

The Charles Ives Collection consists of 719 photographs from the Pacific Theater of WWII. Many of the photographs were taken between 1944 and 1945. Mr. Ives inherited the photographs from a friend from Marblehead, Massachusetts who served as an aviator in the Army Air Corps and discharged as a Major in 1945.
