A crowd gathers at a cockfighting arena in the Philippines in 1944

Gift of John M. Lynes Sr., from the Collection of The National WWII Museum
Description:

A crowd gathers at a cockfighting arena. "Here is a view of the crowd that mills around the average cockfight arena during each weekly session. It is a serious business with the male Filipino. The fights almost always end in a kill and to the victor goes not only the purse but the dead bird, though it is doubtful if there is any good meat on any of the vanquished birds, due to their lean tough fighting condition."
