Description:

Photograph. Elementary-aged school children on their way to school; they are on a walkway that passes under a small bridge. Official Caption: "Rome, 5/25/45--Greenbelt: Typical planned community in the U.S.--Underpasses at Greenbelt connect the houses with the business center and the school. These underpasses eliminate street crossings and children can go to and from school safely. Greenbelt did not grow up in a random way like most villages. All details of every day life were considered carefully by the nation's leading town planners, architects, social workers and engineers long before actual construction of the community began.-OWI Photo--Serviced by Rome OWI (A List Out).
