1849. '3-23-44. J. P. Johnson. Radio Cpl. J. T. Sheridan and operator Pvt B. M. Dennard, H. Q. and Service Battery 609th F A, 71st Div, receive a message from outpost observers giving range data and fire control information. Messages usually come over in prearranged code verbally, deciphered, then sent thru field phone to battery positions.
