Description:
Unidentified American soldier looking out of an open window, Algeria, 1943. Our convoy came thru the straights of Gilbrator 8/20/43 and we landed at Oran. The Sicily battle was on and we tented high above the port of Oran overlooking the Sea. Water was bad, highly chlorinated and hot and dysentery was effecting [sic] many. My weight fell from 125 to 85 lbs in ten days and we got ready for the landing in Naples, Italy 9-5-43.' North Africa. August 1943.
